Fall has arrived on a cool light breeze...

Step One:
Peel, core & slice/dice apples and mix with 1 teaspoon of Pure Vanilla extract. The best apples to use I find are either Macintosh or Granny Smith. You will need  work 2 to 3 pounds. Then mix  the peeled, sliced apples with the following: (whisk the following dry ingredients together - then mix with apples.)
1/2 cup of flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons nutmeg

Step Two:

Make a basic pie crust or you can use two Pillsbury Pre made Pie crust.
Pie Crust as follows:2 cups of all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 12 teaspoons of unsalted butter cold & cubed, 1/4 cup milk and 1 egg yolk.
Line in deep dish cookie sheet. Then crush and spread over top of pie crust Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal or Corn Flakes.

Step Three:
Place apple slices over crushed cereal evenly. Make pie crust for top layer and cover completely .

Step Four:
Whisk egg white and spread evenly over top crust and sprinkle with a cinnamon and sugar mixture!
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes. Remove from oven let set for 10 minutes .
During this time you can make a glaze for top of bars if desired and drizzle over top of bars.

Enjoy and Happy Fall :)
