Fall has arrived on a cool light breeze...

Step One:
Peel, core & slice/dice apples and mix with 1 teaspoon of Pure Vanilla extract. The best apples to use I find are either Macintosh or Granny Smith. You will need  work 2 to 3 pounds. Then mix  the peeled, sliced apples with the following: (whisk the following dry ingredients together - then mix with apples.)
1/2 cup of flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons nutmeg

Step Two:

Make a basic pie crust or you can use two Pillsbury Pre made Pie crust.
Pie Crust as follows:2 cups of all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 12 teaspoons of unsalted butter cold & cubed, 1/4 cup milk and 1 egg yolk.
Line in deep dish cookie sheet. Then crush and spread over top of pie crust Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal or Corn Flakes.

Step Three:
Place apple slices over crushed cereal evenly. Make pie crust for top layer and cover completely .

Step Four:
Whisk egg white and spread evenly over top crust and sprinkle with a cinnamon and sugar mixture!
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes. Remove from oven let set for 10 minutes .
During this time you can make a glaze for top of bars if desired and drizzle over top of bars.

Enjoy and Happy Fall :)

Why it's been awhile...

As you can see I've not posted in abit,,,its funny the older one gets you really do start to see things differently. On July 28th my birthday I finally went to the Doctors due to a lump on my back thigh that started out the size of a pea and grew to the size of a golf ball...mind you I'm never sick and as a nurse think I can fix anything LOL. Well, of course it needed surgery right away...and to boot found out I'm Diabetic double whammy explains my utter exhaustion HA1C was 13.9 plus anemic... Finally feeling a little better, so back to my blog.
